“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5;16

At Lower East Side Fellowship we have a desire to impact our community so as to see lives transformed, broken lives healed, sins forgiven and bondage broken. We accomplish this mission through leading people to a relationship with Jesus Christ, into salvation and nurturing believers to come into the fullness of Christ through discipleship and obedience to the faith.

L. E. S. F. Mission Statement of Faith:

We Believe that, because all believers are spiritually united in the Lord Jesus Christ, we should cooperate in all possible ways in God’s work with our fellow believers, both those among us and elsewhere, loving and being patient with one another in our differences.         (Galatians 3:26-28  1 Corinthians 12:12-13;   Ephesians 2:14-22)

The Bible; We Believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16  2 Peter 3:15-16  Isaiah 55:11)

GODThere is only one God. He is the Creator of heaven, earth, and all living beings. He has revealed Himself to humanity as the Father (Creator), in the Son (Savior), and as the Holy Ghost (indwelling Spirit). (John 1:1  2 Corinthians 13:14  Mark 1:9-10  John 17:20-23)

Jesus Christ; We Believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection, bodily ascension into heaven, and His personal return once again in power and glory.                                                                       (John 5:18Matthew 1:18-23Mark 2:5-12John 1:29Acts 1:8-10)

Salvation;  We Believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, renewed by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. That salvation cannot be gained by human effort, but only through God’s grace in the redemption He provided in Jesus Christ, a redemption which is responded to by faith and which leads to a life devoted to obeying God.                          (Titus 3:3-7Ephesians 2:8-10Acts 4:12)

Baptism; We Believe that believers in Christ should be baptized in water, by immersion       (the Biblical form of baptism), in obedience to Christ.                                                                  (Matthew 28:18-20  Acts 2:36-41;   Galatians 3:27-28  Colossians 2:12-15)

Holy Spirit; We Believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling, the believer is aided to live a godly life.   (Acts 1:15-16;   1 Corinthians 6:19-20;   Romans 8:26-27)

Baptism of the Holy Spirit ; We Believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit provides the believer with the physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance. (Acts 2:4;  Acts 8:12-17;  Acts 10: 44-46;  1Corinthians 12:28)

Resurrection; We Believe in the resurrection, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life. (John 5:27-29  Hebrews 9:27;   1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

The Ordinances; We Believe The Lord Jesus Christ has instituted two ordinances for obedient observance by the local church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper.  Baptism is a public profession of faith that a person has already experienced salvation. The Scriptures teach that the elements of Communion have no mystical or supernatural power, but were given by Jesus as symbols of the sacrifice of His body and blood as an atonement for the sins of the world. These two ordinances are to be observed and administered by God’s family until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
